Great News!!!!  Construction has finally started.  After months of fighting with the insurance companies, it looks like we have come to an agreement and are moving forward.  I am being told by our contractors that the project will take 60-90 days for full completion.  However, we are creatively working to try and get certain areas of the facility completed so that we can partially open boarding and daycare.  I will have more information over the next couple of weeks.  Updates will come more often now that things are moving in the right direction.  We will definitely be open for Thanksgiving so book away.
I know each one of these updates comes with an apology, but I hope you all know this has, unfortunately, been out of my control.  I am super excited to send progress pictures as I know this places is going to be gorgeous.   I can’t thank you all enough for your continued patience.  I miss you all tremendously.

I apologize for not sending out an update earlier, but we have had a lot of snags along the way in trying to put our facility back together again. As you all know, at the end of April the main water line broke and literally rocked our facility. It took us about a month to understand the extent of the damage. At that point, we had to have structural engineers and architects come together to come up with a plan. That put us to the end of June where we submitted for permits to the Village of Deerfield. We hope to receive those permits over the next couple weeks. At that point we can get moving.
We also had some insurance issues to work out since we were dealing with both the landlord and Barking Lot insurance. This has been a very complicated loss and took some time for the two companies to agree on who was paying for what. This caused some unfortunate delays as well.
This means that we have to push our open date into the month of September. Unfortunately, I can’t give you an exact date. It will be a lot easier to anticipate our open date once the construction gets going. I can’t wait to send you pictures of our progress as the new facility is going to be spectacular. Grooming and retail will remain open throughout the construction process and you can always use the Chicago location for boarding and daycare.
I know this has been very difficult for some of you and I can’t apologize enough. This personally has been one of the most challenging times in my life. I hope that you will all be patient and come back to your dog’s home away from home.

After further review with structural engineers and the Village, the extent of the damage from the water main break was even worse than predicted. Unfortunately, most of the facility has to be renovated. We need to replace 80 kennels, which will take 10-12 weeks to manufacture. Although it was a very difficult decision to make, we feel it’s best to wait until all renovations are complete to reopen boarding and daycare, which is tracking for the beginning of August. We will have an exact date once we firm up the production schedule with the kennel company.
The upside to all if this is that we will have a brand new facility with high end modern kennels, commercial grade epoxy floors throughout the entire facility, new protective wall panels, and a brand new coat of paint. We are most excited about our brand new outdoor area which will have anti-microbial artificial grass (no more muddy paws). The other good news is that we will be able to take dogs in for grooming beginning June 12th.
We are so sorry for any inconvenience this has caused our customers, and we appreciate your loyalty to our business. Once more information is available, we will be in touch! Staff will be here every day from 10am-2pm to answer phone calls, emails, and phone messages so that you can continue to make your reservations. We can’t wait to show you our amazing new facility come August!

We have been gathering information to get a better understanding of the damage to our facility. It is safe to say that we will be closed for the next month. We can’t apologize enough for any inconvenience this has caused many of you.
When we reopen, we will have the two play areas and a couple kennel areas repaired. Unfortunately, the kennels will take some time to be built and installed. This means that the dogs will be in 80-100 lb crates when they are not playing. We most likely will only be able to accommodate around 50 dogs. Reservations will be required for all services including daycare. Grooming will open at that time as well.
The entire facility will take around three months to be fully operational with all of our brand new kennels. The silver lining is that when this is all said and done, we should have a brand new, fully updated facility.
Please make sure to like us on Facebook , check the website regularly as we plan on sending pictures and updates along the way.
Hope to see you all soon!
